About Deconstructing Racism
Deconstructing Racism is a two-day workshop designed for participants to analyze and understand the legacy of racism and race in the United States. The workshop curriculum consists of core concepts from national anti-racism training models. The Deconstructing Racism facilitation team provides attendees with useful data, tools, and resources to examine racism within our society. The workshop is interactive and includes presentations, small group discussions, and audio-visual components for multiple learning styles.
A dynamic process intended to engage participants from a variety of backgrounds, Deconstructing Racism explores a number of topics among the following:
- Implicit bias and its effect on our daily decision-making and behavior
- The contrast of individual actions and systemic outcomes regarding race
- The relationship between race and economics
- The history of race in the US and its present-day implications
- A practical framework for increasing participants’ capacity to create meaningful change
